CNIPA Releases Work Plan for Systematic Governance For Maliciously Registering Trademarks.

On May 8 2023, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (“CNIPA”) released the Notification For Work Plan To Promote High-quality Development through Systematic Governance For Maliciously Registering Trademarks (2023-2025) on its official website.

The Work Plan consists of 30 items from eight aspects, which clearly states that the competent government departments will promote another round of amendments to the Trademark Law and the legislation and amendment to the formulation and revision of the Implementing Regulations of the Trademark Law and other supporting regulations and provisions, and will also improve the standards of examination policy, dynamically revise the Guideline for Trademark Examination and Trial, focus on cracking down on those trademarks that have significant adverse effects and are clearly deceptive, strictly crack down on malicious acts of trademark robbery, accurately cracking down on malicious hoarding of trademarks and integrated governance of other malicious behaviors in the field of trademark registration, and will govern the abuse of trademark rights in accordance with the law, strengthen supervision upon the trademark agency, etc.
