Updates on the Visa and Entry Policies for Travelling to China.

According to the notice issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China(“PRC”) on March 14, 2023, the PRC had made the adjustments on the visa and entry policies for foreigners travelling to China, which would take effect from March 15, 2023.

The aforesaid adjustments include the following:

  • Unexpired Visas issued before March 28, 2020 by Chinese visa authorities may resume to be valid for entry into China.
  • From March 15, 2023, foreigners can apply for any type of Chinese visa, and the specific requirements on visa application may refer to the Instructions for Visa Application published on the official website of embassies and consulates of the PRC.
  • Port visas will be issued again in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
  • The Visa-Free Entry to Hainan, Shanghai 15-Day Visa-Free Travel for Groups, 144-hour Visa-Free for foreigners to visit Guangdong from Hong Kong and Macao, and 6-Day Visa-Free Entry to Guilin for ASEAN tour group shall resume implementation.
